In addition to the usual holiday cover, we have a good deal of experience of undertaking long-term house-sitting, where our sitters look after otherwise unoccupied homes that may be vulnerable to theft, vandalism or dilapidation if left unattended.

This service avoids the potential risks posed by informal arrangements as it is a proper contract and the company has employer’s liability and other insurances in place, as well as the ability to back up its sitters should any difficulties arise.

The need for these assignments may arise from a variety of causes, from someone being admitted into long-term care, relocation, or even probate issues. The common concern in most cases is the invalidation of the owner’s insurance cover where a property is left empty for more than a month. 

Such assignments vary greatly in nature and can pose entirely different problems from the usual house-sit, ranging from situations where the home is entirely furnished to those where supplementary heating and other domestic equipment may be needed. 

Our standard charges apply, and these make provision for a daily average of a couple of hours of specified duties. If small maintenance tasks are required, these can usually be carried out by prior arrangement, and any duties which increase the time required beyond the daily average are subject to additional charge. 

We usually offer a rota of sitters for long-term assignments and have found that this approach works well for both sitters and clients alike.
